TANZANITE BERNESE

Note: in this litter, the sire does not have DNA test results for von Willebrands Disease (vWD) or Degenerative Myelopathy (DM - there are 2 mutations, SOD1A and SOD1B).  Kiva (dam of the litter) was DNA tested as vWD Clear so none of her puppies can be Affected for vWD. Her pup Mystic tested as vWD Clear. 

 

For DM, since Kiva was a DM SOD1A  Carrier and she died in 2013, before the DNA test for SOD1B became generally available in 2014, no assumptions can be made about the DNA status of the puppies.   Mystic tested Clear for both DM mutations.  No puppies from this litter entered the gene pool (due to Mystic's SAS diagnosis).  As of January 2021, I know that Boo is still alive (the sire lived to be 12.4 years old!).  Keep in mind that back in 2008, DNA testing for Degenerative Myelopathy was new - there are only SIX DM DNA test results entered in Berner-Garde during 2008.  I didn't do my first DM DNA test until 2010.
